Members from both academia and industry sectors provide Cybera's primary governance. Cybera's board is made up of representatives from post-secondary institutions, organizations, and industry. This governance model has been designed to maximize input from key stakeholders and serve the needs of cyberinfrastructure users.
Cybera members include:
- Post-secondary institutions that support users and research enabled by technology
- Companies that supply and use cyberinfrastructure
- Government departments and ministries that support users and research enabled by technology
- Non-profit organizations that support research enabled by technology
Examples of Cybera member benefits are:
- Abitlity to determine the board of directors for Cybera which in turn guides the vision and direction of Cybera
- Access to cyberinfrastructure resources and integrated Cybera services, cyberinfrastructure expertise, training, and project management
- Increased opportunities for collaboration or to build strategic relationships with key decision makers, the business community, executive level contacts, faculty, academic researchers and IT professionals
- Increased human resource, technical capacity and cyberinfrastructure expertise
- Improved visibility and awareness within a market niche
- Access to a province-wide technology test-bed
- Support in setting up onsite cyberinfrastructure facilities
- Influence on the development of technology standards
- Increased opportunities for collaboration amongst industry, Alberta organizations and post-secondary institutions and researchers
- Increased access to capital and funding through pilot projects
- Access to one-on-one training sessions or online/distance training sessions
- Cybera presence at internal events/trade shows
- Presence at Cybera networking events (ie: booth at a conference/summit, etc)
- Ability to promote events/research on Cybera website or in Cybera newsletter (circulation: <3,000). Examples include researcher profiles, upcoming event advertising, press releases, etc
