COVID-19: Cybera Update

Cybera is preparing for possible increased activity on our network and cloud, as member institutions move more digital materials online in anticipation of staff and students working from home.

To that end, Cybera is monitoring all network traffic closely and increasing capacity as needed for member institutions during this crisis, to ensure Alberta organizations have the capacity they need.

Other activities we are undertaking at this time include:

  • Enhanced monitoring of the network
  • Working with members to maintain access to remote hosting sites
  • Minimizing any major network changes 
  • Making the Rapid Access Cloud available to members and Alberta small-to-medium sized enterprises to assist with their move to digital environments

As you move into emergency planning, we ask that you be mindful of the critical nature of the Research and Education Network at this time.

National Research and Education Network

Together with our partners in Canada’s National Research and Education Network (NREN), we are working to ensure that NREN infrastructure continues to support the needs of Canadian research and education communities as the COVID-19 situation evolves. Our network teams are on alert and sharing information as they monitor network operations across the country. Normal network escalation protocols remain in effect.
