Cybera’s solar-powered datacentre showcased at EcoLiving event

Cybera joined a crowd of 60 people at the Alastair Ross Technology Centre (ARTC) this morning for EcoLiving Events' Solar Stampede Breakfast.

The event included a tour of the ARTC building's green features, including its eco roof project and the solar-powered computer node of the GreenStar Network, a project funded by CANARIE, Canada's Research and Innovation Network.

The Calgary node, one of five across Canada, is operated by Cybera and draws its power from eight solar panels on the ARTC roof. The GSN project is studying the impact of greenhouse gas emissions generated from ICT services and is working to develop international standards for measuring and reducing these emissions.
