CANARIE announces new Board of Directors

CANARIE, Canada's advanced research and innovation network, today announced the 2009-2010 Board of Directors - a new group of accomplished Canadian industry and university executives who will advise CANARIE as it embarks on the development of a new strategic plan. Drawing on 20 years of entrepreneurial leadership, Jim Roche, President & CEO of Stratford Managers Corporation, will serve as Chair of the Board of Directors.

U of A Software Carpentry course

The Universities of Alberta and Toronto will offer a new Software Carpentry course from July 13 to 31. This course is an accelerated introduction to software development designed to give science and engineering graduate and post-graduate students the skills they need to use computers more effectively in their research. This course is available partially due to support from Cybera and MITACS.

CANARIE announced a $3 million Call for Proposals to fuel the development of advanced computing and networking technologies that reduce carbon and greenhouse gas emissions from the world’s Information and Communications Technologies infrastructure, and enable collaboration on promising green IT solutions.

CANARIE $2 million Call for Proposals

CANARIE Inc. announced a $2 millian Call for Proposals. As part of CANARIE’s Infrastructure Extension Program, the Call for Proposals aims to connect Canadian innovators and their collaborators around the world, and provide the ultra high-speed network capability they require to explore new research and education possibilities, address grand multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral challenges, and accelerate the delivery of research results.

Cybera forms new partnership with MoboVivo

Cybera is announcing a new pilot project with a Calgary-based media distribution company, MoboVivo Inc., which will enable consumers to more easily access their favourite videos and music. MoboVivo licenses television shows, movies and music for web and mobile devices, such as the Blackberry and iPhone.
