Over 30 people attended Cybera’s NEP Project Launch at the University of Alberta on Tuesday, September 9.
Two of Cybera’s pilot projects received funding through CANARIE’s Network-Enabled Platforms (NEP) fund. Those projects are the Canadian Space Science Data Portal (CSSDP), and GeoChronos. Both projects are profiled here. The event acted as a launching pad for the next phase of both of these projects, and as an opportunity for those involved to meet face-to-face in a relaxed atmosphere. Introductory remarks were given by Renee Elio, Associate Vice-President (Research) at the University of Alberta, and Lynn Sutherland, President and CEO of Cybera.
The goal of the CSSDP is to enable and simplify researcher access to space science analytic tools and data, while the goal of GeoChronos is to develop a gateway to equip earth observation scientists with tools to develop new colloborative approaches to data analysis. Both projects will use cyberinfrastructure to accomplish their objectives.
