Vancouver, BC (May 3, 2010) ' During May 4 – 5, visitors to the Cybera website will find up-to-date coverage of the BCNET/CANARIE Conference 2010 in Vancouver, BC. Cybera staff attending the event will be blogging, 'tweeting,' and taking photos to recap and reflect upon some of the more than 40 sessions being presented at the conference.
'Through our live on-site coverage, Cybera hopes to share the BCNET/CANARIE Conference experience with all visitors to our site,' says Alexis Milinusic, Cybera Communications Officer. 'Our hope is that people will check-in throughout the day as we share insights and highlights from the conference's diverse two-day program.'
The event's theme, New Ideas for Shared Solutions, will explore innovative ideas for sharing technology services to solve common problems. The conference features more than 40 sessions in six tracks that include Industry Perspectives, Collaborations & Learning Technologies, Infrastructure & Services, Ideas for Shared Solutions, and Network Planning & Strategies.
Senior Cybera staff are among the guest speakers at the conference. Cybera President and CEO Robin Winsor and Chief Technology Officer Patrick Mann will present Cybera Pilot Projects – Virtualization, Clouds and Middleware ' a reflection on lessons learned through Cybera's pilot project initiatives and the future direction of these projects. The talk will highlight Cybera's four CANARIE-funded Network-Enabled Platforms (NEP) projects: Cloud Enabled Space Weather Platform (CESWP); Canadian Space Science Data Porta (CSSDP)l; GeoChronos; and Geospacial Cyberinfrastructure for Environmental Sensing (GeoSENS).
Winsor will also participate in the session Regional Developments in Advanced Networks – What's happening in Your Region, which features a panel of Canadian and American advanced network experts that will discuss new ideas for sharing technology by leveraging advanced networks.
