FREE DATA SCIENCE TRAINING GIVES ALBERTANS’ ACCESS TO SKILLS NEEDED IN TODAY’S DIGITAL ECONOMY

WHY:

As the modern digital economy continues to evolve, Albertans that can embrace and harness data science concepts and tools — including machine learning, artificial intelligence and big data analytics — will have a strong competitive advantage. The issue for many businesses is the lack of resources to employ these tools, and for many Albertans (particularly those looking to change careers), the lack of skills.

Enter Cybera’s Data Science for Entrepreneurs initiative, which provides FREE training and data science expertise to anyone who is interested.

WHAT:

Experts from Cybera, Alberta’s not-for-profit technology agency, will demonstrate to media and workshop participants some foundational skills in data science (in this case, how to utilize data science, machine learning and natural language processing techniques to harvest Twitter for new business leads).

WHEN:

Wednesday, March 20, 2018, from 8:45 – 10:15 am.

SCHEDULE:

8:45 am – Doors open.

8:50 am – Interview opportunity with data scientist David Chan, and local entrepreneurs.

9:00 am: Workshop begins: How to Use Twitter Data to Generate New Leads.

10:00 am: Coffee break.

10:15 am – 12:30 pm – Workshop continues. Media are welcome to remain until the end.
