Network Flow Data Notice
To support the security and reliability of our IT systems, Cybera collects and monitors network flow data.
What is network flow data?
“Network flow data” refers to the non-content metadata describing the communication patterns of traffic across the network. It’s like a detailed log of the network traffic that focuses on the "who, what, where, when, and how much" of the data being transmitted, rather than the content (i.e. words or images). This log includes, source and destination IP addresses, port numbers, protocol information, timestamps, Autonomous System Numbers (ASN), and the volume of bytes or packets transferred.
Why do we collect it?
- Support traffic engineering to optimize network efficiency and reliability.
- To protect our systems from cyber threats and misuse.
- To troubleshoot technical issues.
- To ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and funding requirements.
Why do we collect it?
- Access is restricted to authorized personnel.
- Data is stored securely and only kept for as long as necessary (normally up to 5 years to determine trends, unless required longer for investigations or compliance).
- Information is not sold or used for marketing.
