Cybera is pleased to have co-hosted Summit 2011: Data for All - Opening Up the Clouds with two Alberta-based cloud and open data projects: the Water and Environmental Hub (WEHUB) project and the Geospatial Cyberinfrastructure for Environmental Sensing (GeoCENS) project. The program showcased examples around how open, shared and cloud resources are changing the ways we access, process and distribute data.
The program was divided into three tracks:

The Cybera track was filled with discussions around cloud service models, cloud communities, ‘lessons learned’ case studies, and cloud service gaps yet to fill. The audiences within these sessions included cloud providers, developers, vendors, ‘technopreneurs’, small businesses, academic researchers, government ministry representatives and other organizations interested in or currently using cloud technologies. |

The GeoCENS track / SWE 2011 ran as an academic conference with peer-reviewed papers on research around the development of open data applications. There was a formal call for papers, a committee to review the submissions, and invited speakers. The audience of this track included academic researchers (from within the biogeosciences discipline as well as other disciplines), current users of the GeoCENS web portal, as well as other research groups or projects in similar areas of study. |

The WEHUB track showcased examples of commercial, governmental, and academic open water data web platforms and how these can spur economic diversification to benefit users across both public and private sectors. The audience of the WEHUB track included representatives from resource management industries, government ministry employees, non-governmental organizations, and the general public who are interested in water and environmental monitoring. |
