Cybera roadmap update: staying on target
We are now midway through our Strategic Roadmap 2022-25. Looking over the specific goals we set two years ago, our team is pleased with Cybera’s overall progress.
We have successfully begun (and even completed) over 70% of the activities listed within Cybera’s five key pillars.
New corporate video
We get a lot of questions about who Cybera is, and what exactly we do for our community. To show how we support Alberta’s public, education, research, and innovation communities, our team has put together this background video.
Super early-bird tickets for Cyber Summit now on sale
With the Cyber Summit less than five months away, we are pleased to announce a super early bird rate of $199 for members who register before the end of June!
Our first keynote will be author, educator, and celebrated STEM innovator Brian Aspinall. Aspinall is the CEO and founder of Code Breaker Inc, whose mission is to help teachers harness computational thinking, coding, and video games as means for promoting student engagement and success.

SANS training discounts
Cybera is offering a voucher-based training package to staff within our education member organizations (K-12 and post-secondary). The voucher program provides significant discounts to the SANS cybersecurity catalogue. The deadline to commit to vouchers is July 21, 2023.
ADSL launches summer cohort
Cybera’s Applied Data Science Lab for Economic Development has begun its 2023 summer internship program. Sixteen budding data scientists and four Alberta-based organizations are working together on internal data projects.
ShareIT catalogue has grown to 40 offerings
Highlights from ShareIT’s 2022-23 year in review include four new procurement offerings, a new knowledge-sharing pilot with the Canadian University Council of CIOs (CUCCIO), and and a 19% increase in ShareIT spend in the last fiscal (to $22.3 million).
Platform YYC joins eduroam
Calgary’s Platform Innovation Centre has become the first incubator and innovation specific space in Western Canada to offer eduroam, a global internet access service for the higher education and research sector.
Cybera is hiring
Cybera is currently looking for a Cybersecurity Project Manager and a Senior Systems Administrator to join our team. The project manager should ideally have product development experience, while the SysAdmin will steward a public cloud migration.
Classroom data exercises from Callysto
The Callysto project (facilitated by Cybera and PIMS) has released a new series of data science visualization exercises to help students develop their problem solving skills. The exercises include a history of residential schools, and Canada’s costliest natural disasters.
