Cybersecurity Risk Management

March 9, we will host our second quarterly community conversation with cybersecurity leaders in Alberta’s education (K-12 and PSI) sector. These discussions will be aimed at the folks who act as the bridge between the technical practitioners and the executive-levels in their organizations. They are the ones who live in both worlds, pulling the strategic, the technical, and the tactical (or stratactical) together.

Each quarter, we will invite a panel of peers and other experts within the community to discuss one topic of interest. Possible topics include:

• Day in the life of…
• Building a team
• Metrics
• Financing (how to get the money)
• Balancing compliance
• Risk and governance

Our second quarterly community call will launch with a discussion on “Cybersecurity Risk Management” on March 9. During this call, three practitioners from across Canada — Jess Gellert from NorQuest College, Rob Milman from the University of Prince Edward Island and Steve Payne from the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario — have agreed to discuss approaches to risk management, including tracking, reporting, communicating, and accepting cybersecurity risks, along with answering your questions.
