The 2008 iCORE Alberta Electrical & Computer Engineering Graduate Reseach Sympsosium attracted about 150 delegates and featured keynote addresses from prominent private and public figures. The event, held on May 9, 2008, at the University of Alberta’s ETLC Solarium, was the second of its kind. Cybera has attended both symposiums as a sponsor.
Keynote speakers included YottaYotta co-founder and CTO Wayne Karpoff, and University of Alberta mechanical engineering professor Dr. Brian Fleck, who is also the host of CBC’s “Project X” show. Both addresses touched on broad how-to-live-your-life themes and were well received by the audience. Beyond the addresses, the day’s technical talks and poster presentations gave tech-oriented grad students an opportunity to network, career-hunt and learn what their peers and mentors were up to.
Cybera’s booth was visited by about 40 delegates, most of whom were interested in what the organization was all about and which empoyment opportunities might be available (check the front page for current listings).
